The School of All Worlds is offering workshops in Berlin with the participation of very successful film professionals that collaborates with the film school on its regular course and in the International Workshop and Higher Studies programs.

The International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV) is considered one of the best of is type in the world. It was founded on December 15, 1986 by Colombian journalist and writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Argentinean poet and filmmaker Fernando Birri, and Cuban theoretician and filmmaker Julio Garcia Espinosa. Since its foundation, thousands of students and professionals from more than 50 countries have made of this school a space for a far-reaching cultural diversity, which has been named The School of All Worlds.

The School of All Worlds bietet jetzt auch Kurse in Berlin an. Unsere internationalen Dozenten, unterrichten bereits sehr erfolgreich im regulären Studiengang und dem internationalen Workshop-Programm an der EICTV in Kuba.

Die EICTV gilt als eine der weltbesten ihrer Art. Seit der Gründung am 15. Valuable elements we hold dear will lose their importance and stop existing in their habitual form in a fraction of a second

Whether it be through relativism, violence, chance or passing of time

Relativism, in general, brings me to the idea of nothing like death.

Aknowledgment of the eminence of an end presented in every object, sentiment, person

The past is important because it is undistinguishable from the present moment

I always try to play with the notion of the almost nothing

Ominous banality with which we are confronted wins in the end

Finding a sense with the least amount of technical possibilities

Progression, trials, mistakes.

Everything will disappear. I do not believe in the permanent.

Confrontation found in this ideal, pushes my creation.

The state of ephemerality inherent to ideas and matter drives me to question the value of memory and identity

Aller Letztes Heute – The Last Everything of Today – is the title of upcoming project conceived by Berlin-based artist Elke Graalfs for Agora.

Elke Graalfs works with time and space. She treats time occupying space. Her work expresses the necessity of being present – physically, emotionally; alone, or with others. Elke’s work resonates with her attitudes towards institutionalized social movements, elitist’s paradox of the art world and personal questions of the artistic life. More than an artist, Elke Graalfs is a cultural activist.

The obedience and obsession of her gestures and her abusive colours result in a deceptive plot. Her free form shapes take over the space within Graalfs evokes the revelation of childhood memories, nostalgia and the corruption of rituals.

Graalfs crosses borders of right and wrong, black and white, low and high-tech – For Aller Letztes Heute the artist born in the northern dorf Carolinensiel traces a narrative that compiles her life, her connections and her work . In this web of relationships she mixes painting and black and white pictures taken from obsolete cell phones. Connecting past and present Elke performs her life in one gesture with irony and a devilish melancholic humor.

Action is state that accurately describes this artist’s life and work. She seems to be powered by a battery pack – it is rare to meet someone with the energy of Elke Graalfs. She has lived and worked for years as a character in the emerging set that is Neukölln. One may come across her with her clothes full of paint, in her daily routine or in a neighborhood bar with a discrete personalized uniform. Her work breathes and lives within the bohemian life style.

Besides her paintings and a site specific wall collage installation, for this opening Elke Graalfs presents a reading “Letzes Heute” (in german) read by David See and music from Super Chock Verzerrer. Dj set by Vicious Vroni aka Veronika Schumacher.

Jitter is a part of Max/MSP, an interactive graphical programming environment widely used in radical and custom music and video applications. Jitter can be used to process and generate digital video, particularly in realtime contexts. In other words, live creative video, yay!

This teaser workshop gives a general introduction to understanding and using Jitter. We will be developing a simple but interesting video processing patch. To do that, we will discuss how Jitter works, along with some fundamental concepts from programming and logic and Max in particular, such as data types, messages, objects and their attributes, etc. If this sounds somewhat scary, this workshop is for you! The goal is to provide a first understanding of how digital video works in Jitter by utilizing logical and mathematical principles, and how much flexibility and power this provides to the user. All patching will be done live in front of you so you can follow and repeat. You will be able to see the results very quickly.

Some knowledge of the general concepts of Max is helpful but not required. No knowledge of math beyond school is required.

Stas Mankovich aka Cesip Xynic creates electronic music, using mainly a computer and Max. Not considering himself a “born nerd” he started out making music with an acoustic guitar. So for those of you who are thinking that learning Jitter, coming from a different background, can be very steep –  don´t worry – he totally gets you.

What should you bring:
A Windows computer or Mac (unfortunately, no linux!) with Max/MSP/Jitter. Make sure Quicktime is installed. A pen and a notebook may come in handy.
